Ergon Technique (IASTM, Graston, Qua Sha)

The ergon technique is an innovative treatment method for mobilizing soft tissues of the body with the use of special stainless steel equipment-tools.

By using the tools we aim at:

  • oedema and haematoma mobilization
  • blood and lymphatic circulation improvement
  • reduction of muscle tone and spasm (muscle relaxation-trigger points)
  • alignment of injured tissues for better healing
  • increase of the range of motion in joints
  • healing acceleration by increasing cellular activity
  • pain reduction

The technique started thousands of years ago in China and was called “Qua Sha”. The Chinese used various tools such as stones, pieces of wood, metals, for the mobilisation of soft tissues. In the last years, various schools worldwide (such as Ergon, Graston, IASTM etc.) have developed the specific technique both by carrying out scientific research and studies, as well as by improving equipment.

The specific treatment is applied in rehabilitation for a wide range of musculoskeletal diseases and may constitute their main or assistive treatment both for common musculoskeletal injuries (acute, due to overuse) and specific sport injuries which require accelerated rehabilitation.

It is applied to:

  • Cervical pain syndrome
  • Low-back pain and sciatica
  • Shoulder tendonitis (supraspinatus, infraspinatus, etc.)
  • Tennis/Golf Elbow
  • Muscle spasm, muscle sclerosis (trigger points)
  • Peripheral nerve problems
  • Muscle contusions
  • Frozen shoulder (in general for rigid joints)
  • Knee problems (tendonitis, ligament ruptures etc.)
  • Ankle joint problems (sprains, Achilles tendinitis etc.)
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Post-operative rehabilitation
